Meg Porfido, JD, joined the Risant Health Board of Directors in May 2024.  

Porfido served on the boards of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals from November 2011 through December 2023. There, she chaired the Compensation Committee and served on the Audit and Compliance Committee and the Executive Committee.  She is also a member of the board of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington.

Porfido formerly was a member of the management team at Level 3 Communications (now Lumen), a telecommunications and internet service provider company. From 2006 to 2008, she was Level 3 Communications’ chief human resources officer. After joining the company in its first year, she served in various management roles for over 8 years, with a focus on communications, integrations, and performance management.  

Before joining Level 3 Communications, Porfido was chief of staff to former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer. In that role, she managed the Cabinet, overseeing all state government operations and services. Prior to that, she served as the governor’s general counsel and legislative liaison. Porfido also practiced law at the private law firms of Brownstein Hyatt in Denver and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom LLP in Washington, D.C. She began her career as a legislative assistant to U.S. Rep. Mike Synar. 

Currently, Porfido chairs the board of Girl Rising, a nonprofit that uses the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education. She also serves on the boards of Energize Colorado, a nonprofit that provides capital and resources to Colorado’s small business ecosystem, and Tarjimly, a nonprofit that uses technology to provide translation for refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants. She is an advisor to Guild Education, a for-profit company that works with employees and employers to provide job training and degree programs for working adults.

Porfido holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Delaware and a law degree from the George Washington University Law School.
