Heather Acker joined the board of Risant Health in March 2024.
Acker has been a member of the Geisinger Health board of directors since December 2013, and became chair of the board in January 2024. She also serves as chair of the Emergency Action Committee, along with being a member of the Geisinger Family, Audit and Compliance, Finance, Governance, and Quality committees. Acker is also a member of the Geisinger Health Plan, Geisinger Quality Options Inc., and Geisinger Indemnity Insurance Company boards of directors.
In 2021, Acker retired from Gentex Corporation as executive vice president and chief financial officer. She was chief financial officer for 35 years and was executive vice president for 11 years. Acker was responsible for all financial and administrative activities and involved in business strategy and execution.
Acker earned her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Bucknell University. She received her MBA, with distinction, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in finance. Her education in math and finance, and her experience as a chief financial officer are significant elements of the board's competency in the areas of finance and accounting, and of her effectiveness as a financial expert of the Geisinger Audit and Compliance Committee and Geisinger Finance Committee.
Acker co-chaired the Go Red for Women campaign in 2022, and chaired the 2023 to 2024 Campaign for the United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike Counties in Pennsylvania.
Acker also serves on the advisory board councils of Kania School of Management; the United Way of Lackawanna, Wayne, and Pike Counties; and Circle 200. Former board memberships included Penn Millers, chair of the Compensation Committee and member of the Special Committee to the Board during its sale; Community Medical Center, past chairman and treasurer; Boys and Girls Club of Scranton; The Institute; charter member of Ronald McDonald House of Scranton; Scranton Chamber of Commerce; PNC regional advisory board; and the Waverly Community House.
