Washington, D.C. — Risant Health, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of millions of Americans by increasing access to value-based care, has announced three leadership roles overseeing the continued development and implementation of the value-based platform.

Effective March 3, Deepak Sadagopan has joined Risant Health as business lead, value-based platform. KP Medical Foundation physician Dr. Chris Cable, and Washington Permanente Medical Group physician Dr. Marc Mora, have been named clinical leads for the value-based platform. These three leaders will work closely with Risant Health’s IT business partners, bringing together the business, clinical and technology knowledge to build comprehensive solutions for the value-based platform.

Deepak Sadagopan will be accountable for expanding and accelerating adoption of the value-based platform, which brings together clinical knowledge, technology, and services designed to support health systems’ ability to deliver value-based care in multipayer, multiprovider environments.

Sadagopan joins Risant Health from Providence, a nonprofit health system serving the Western U.S., where he led care transformation initiatives as chief operating officer, population health. Sadagopan has more than two decades of experience spanning technology, health care services and economics, having served in leadership roles at Siemens, Quest Diagnostics, McKesson and Edifecs. He has expertise in improving the performance of value-based care arrangements, developing effective clinically integrated networks, and strategically deploying artificial intelligence tools.

Sadagopan is also a clinical assistant professor of health economics, value-based care, at the University of Washington School of Public Health. He reports to chief executive officer Dr. Jaewon Ryu, J.D.

Dr. Cable is responsible for building and delivering the platform’s clinical capabilities that include the value-based care guides, which are clinical care recommendations and referral guidelines for managing more than 450 common conditions, as well as care enhancement AI tools such as on-demand video visits and ambient listening. Dr. Cable will continue to serve as the chief clinical officer of the KP Medical Foundation.

Dr. Mora will create and deploy specific clinical tools and resources that are the cornerstone of the Kaiser Permanente enterprise’s care model. This includes network design and value-based strategies across the continuum of care. Dr. Mora will continue in his current role as the executive medical director of health plan functions for the Washington Permanente Medical Group.

Drs. Cable and Mora will bring their clinician perspectives to ensure Risant Health’s solutions are effective, relevant, and adoptable to achieve greater health care value for more people.

“The value-based platform provides a pathway to share evidence-based care and industry-leading outcomes that can help shape the future of the health care industry. Our clinical expertise is the cornerstone of the value-based platform and essential to reaching more people and communities through Risant Health,” said Dr. Paul Minardi, executive vice president and chief executive officer, KP Medical Foundation.

“This new leadership structure ensures we have the infrastructure in place to continue to evolve the value-based platform, building on our existing momentum and successes,” said Dr. Ryu. “Deepak, along with Drs. Cable and Mora, will ensure we’re developing business, clinical and technology solutions that enable health systems to accelerate their strategies and scale value-based care. Most importantly, this will help improve care and experience for patients, members, and clinicians.”

Risant Health was created by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in 2023. Together, Kaiser Permanente and Risant Health organizations provide health-focused care to more than 13 million people across the United States.
